Equine Agility

Equine Agility

"Horse Agility is great at keeping your horse fit physically and emotionally. As safety is a very large part of the training for Horse Agility it will help you and your horse to build a more confident relationship when working together".

I started agility in 2017 (wow has it really been that long since I first joined?) I must confess to not competing solidly all that time though.

I currently have a herd of 3,

Prince is my special boy, he's a bit of a wimp, once he gets something he's fine but if he thinks he's done something wrong or not done what I asked he's prone to meltdowns (these are getting much rarer and much less explosive) We've recently started working more on our liberty work which he definitely enjoys.

Nova is my ex racer who also does equagility (ridden agility), she's generally not scared of many things but finds more technical obstacles such as backing over poles and moving sideways to be quite difficult.

Rexelle is my youngster, inquisite, brave and level headed, I have to keep reminding myself to take things slowly with her and remember that just beacause she was good last time, she still needs time to get used to obstacles, especially if she hasn't seen them for a few months.

The thing I find myself reminding students most is to slow down, give the horse time to process what they’re asking and remember just how far they've come.

My favourite obstacle has to be the scary corridor/corner because it is open to my imagination. I can also alter it to specific horses and any current worries they may have.

I am happy to work 1-2-1 with clients and have space for new clients.Sessions can be tailored to individual needs and training methods.

Horse agility is really good for all horses whether ridden or non ridden, to offer variety to their work, help build a bond with their owner/rider/handler and as a way to work on issues that arise in the big wide world in a safe and fun way. The team and people involved in the international horse agility club are welcoming and supportive and there really is something for everyone.
